IT Network Security Engineer

Exeter

In office during probation, 3 days per week in office thereafter

I am working with a manufacturing and commerce client based in Exeter.

They are looking for a network security engineer to join their IT team.

Ideally you will have some or all of the skills that are listed below.

There is training provided for the right candidate, so if you have some, or all of the below and you would like to work with the associated technologies on business projects, then this is a great opportunity to develop within your career.

You will be getting involved in building and maintaining secure, efficient and stable networks and systems. You will be responsible for ensuring that networks and communications are optimised and that they function consistently, both internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

Design and deploy companies network services securely

Monitoring and administration of installations, integration of network communications including routers, switches, firewalls, DMZ, servers, telephony, LAN/WAN.

Manage IP subnet, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPN\'s, VoIP traffic.

Protect network security.

Ensure failure protocols are in place.

Stakeholder communication.

Ensure connectivity is balanced and sufficient with failover plan in place.

General activities such as administration, asset management, documentation, hardware builds and deployment, technical support of hardware infrastructure.

Train end users in safe use of IT infrastructure, and update relevant technical documentation.

Skills and Experience:

MS Windows Environment experience

CCNA/CCNP Accreditation

Awareness of cyber threats and how to manage them is absolutely essential.

Cat6 / fibre communication protocol skills

Network - routers, switches, firewalls, LAN/WAN, servers

Active Directory / MS Entra - profiles, security groups, group policy and configuration.

Network Security and preventative security measures.

Management of web connectivity, email services, and security.

Failover protocol experience.

Asset Management.

Desirable Experience:

Dell switches with fibre

Fortigate products

SCCM / MECM

ESXi and VMware

Veeam, CrowdStrike, Cortex XDR configuration and administration
