AWS Security islooking for a Security Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role inensuring the security and integrity of our systems andinfrastructure. You will work closely with our security team toimplement and maintain robust security measures that adhere toAustralian Government security requirements, including theProtective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the InformationSecurity Manual (ISM). Key job responsibilities Keyresponsibilities may include: * Assist in implementing andmaintaining security measures to safeguard systems andinfrastructure, gaining valuable hands-on experience infoundational security practices. * Support security assessments andaudits to identify vulnerabilities and risks, learning alongsideexperienced professionals to enhance risk mitigation skills * Workclosely with cross-functional teams to contribute ideas and supportthe design and deployment of security solutions, gaining exposureto collaborative project environments * Learn to monitor securitysystems and assist in responding to security incidents underguidance, developing essential incident response skills. *Contribute insights to the development of security policies andstandard operating procedures, gaining exposure to policy-makingprocesses and industry standards. * Offer support and guidance tointernal teams on security best practices, learning fromexperienced mentors while assisting in implementing securitymeasures effectively. Hold or be able to attain an AustralianGovernment Security Vetting Agency clearance (seehttps://www1.defence.gov.au/security/clearances). A day in the lifeA typical day for a Security Systems Engineer starts with reviewingsecurity logs and alerts to identify potential threats, gainingvaluable exposure to real-world security monitoring practices.Throughout the day, they collaborate closely with the security teamto analyze security incidents and contribute to the development ofresponse strategies, learning from experienced professionals inincident response. Additionally, they conduct security assessmentson new systems and applications, honing their skills in evaluatingsecurity risks and vulnerabilities. In meetings withcross-functional teams, they actively participate in discussions onsecurity requirements and initiatives, gaining insights into thebroader organizational security landscape. Finally, they dedicatetime to researching emerging security threats and technologies,staying current with industry trends and continuously expandingtheir knowledge base. This hands-on experience and exposure tovarious aspects of security operations are essential for theirgrowth and development in the field.
