The team manages the security and availabilityof AWS Cloud services. We operate on the "AWS" side of the SharedResponsibility Model to ensure “Security of the Cloud” and toprotect our customers. This role requires engineers to worktactically with both internal and external stakeholders to solvesecurity challenges at massive scale, and to think strategically todevelop and implement changes to drive automation, scalability andcontinuous progress for the organization. Key job responsibilitiesA successful candidate will need a combination of troubleshooting,technical, and communication skills, as well as the ability tohandle a mix of disparate tasks which may include small-projects inaddition to managing incident response activities. This role willprovide career growth opportunities as you gain new security skillsin the course of your duties. Successful candidates will beexpected to: - Triage new incoming issues to determine the level ofrisk they present to AWS, and then accordingly prioritize itsremediation in conjunction with the impacted service team. -Communicate the state of these issues to various audiences, bothtechnical and non-technical, at various levels of seniority (up toand including the AWS Chief Information Security Officer). -Participate in efforts to promote security throughout the companyand build good working relationships with partner security teamsand service teams across Amazon - Demonstrate high capacity formanaging priorities appropriately while remaining productive andeffective, with tolerance for context switching and interruptions -Escalate issues early and often, expressing a high degree ofsecurity judgement when issues are not progressing at the correctpace based on impact to ensure we are putting customers first. -Explore and embrace the Amazon builder culture, identifyingmechanisms and methods to improve tools and processes to simplifyand drive issues at the scale and speed necessary to benefit ourglobal team of engineers. - Fulfill regular on-callresponsibilities during the team's working hours and in support ofthe global team's on-call weekend rotation A day in the life Thisposition supports AWS with security operations and incidentresponse activities. You will be responsible for coordinating andfacilitating security response activities for all AWS products andservices. You will drive security related issues to resolutionacross numerous service teams, interacting directly with thoseteams and other AWS Security engineers. About the team CloudResponse is a team inside AWS Security Operations. This team isbroadly responsible for the 'AWS' side of the Shared ResponsibilityModel, and provides oversight of security issues from theiridentification through to resolution. Cloud Response operatesfollow-the-sun with teams based around four different geographicallocations. We work with AWS security and service teams to ensuresecurity issues are addressed and resolved with the right level ofurgency, while keeping our key stakeholders informed and engaged asnecessary throughout the issue lifecycle.
