Your new role

  • We are looking for a 1st Line IT Support Technician to join our team!
  • This position will be responsible for providing frontline technical support, resolving user issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems.
  • Respond promptly to IT support requests logged in the Service Desk system, adhering to SLA guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
  • Assist in setting up and maintain user accounts, hardware, and software.
  • Perform routine checks including backup jobs, system updates, and patch management.
  • Support basic networking tasks such as diagnosing connectivity issues and configuring devices.
  • Document resolutions, update knowledge bases, and ensure accurate ticket notes.
  • Collaborate with the wider IT team to monitor systems and address recurring issues.
  • Provide training and guidance to users on common IT tasks and best practices.
  • Escalate complex issues to 2nd or 3rd line support teams wherever necessary.

About you

  • Experience in a customer-facing role, either within IT or another industry (e.g., retail, hospitality), demonstrating the ability to provide effective customer service.
  • Exposure to troubleshooting IT issues (this could be through education, internships, or a personal interest in technology).
  • You will have a basic understanding of Windows operating systems and Office 365 applications.
  • Familiarity with common IT tools such as remote desktop software and IT ticketing systems.
  • Basic networking knowledge, including Wi-Fi troubleshooting and IP addressing.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity basics, including password hygiene and phishing identification.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to plan whilst delivering results to deadline.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to explain technical or complex concepts in a clear format to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Able to effectively manage and influence stakeholders’ and customer expectations.
  • Ability to learn and share knowledge with the management team and the wider team where appropriate.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a desire to continually develop and improve our processes.
  • Creates a positive environment through self-awareness and social skills.
  • Emotional resilience and an ability to work under pressure with good humour.

Qualifications

  • Ideally, you will have a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Entry-level IT certifications, such as CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+), Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals, or ITIL Foundation, are desirable.
