IT Support Technician
Location: Barnsley, UK
Salary: £32,000 to £40,000
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
Ranson Barnes Recruitment is proud to be working with a leading South Yorkshire Manufacturer in the search for an IT Support Technician, this role is newly created and will be part of a small IT Team.
Day to day you will be responsible for the maintenance and security of all internal IT infrastructure and systems. This critical role will ensure the smooth operation of the technology landscape, protecting data assets and providing essential technical support to employees.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong blend of technical skills in both infrastructure and cybersecurity. Strong soft skills and excellent communication are essential attributes for the position as you'll be interacting regularly with colleagues to resolve issues and enhance the IT environment. You will also partner with their MSP, and utilise their RMM software to support the whole infrastructure.

  • IT Infrastructure Management
  • IT Helpdesk Support & Administration
  • User Accounts and Permissions
  • Server Storage Management and Maintenance
  • Firewall Configurations and Updates
  • New Starter Onboarding and Offboarding
  • Cyber Security Management
  • SharePoint, Entrat 365 Tenant Management
  • Patch Management
  • Leading and implimenting IT Projects Delivery
    You Will Have

  • Experience administering Microsoft 365, Entra & SharePoint. This includes user accounts, licenses, and security settings.

  • Experience (preferably certified) in managing and supporting Windows servers in virtualised environments (VMWare/Hyper-V)

  • Full understanding of network security protocols and firewall management.

  • Understanding of network infrastructure and troubleshooting methodologies.

  • Proficiency in server storage management, maintenance, data backup, and recovery procedures (Veeam)

  • Excellent desktop support skills with the ability to assist end-users effectively. Windows 11 / MS Office Suite / iOS and Android devices

  • Strong understanding of Cyber Security requirements

  • A proactive and problem-solving attitude, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.

  • Hands-on experience with Mobile Device Management on iOS/Android devices (InTune)

  • Strong soft-skills, ensuring clear and effective interaction with colleagues, management, and external partners.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users in a clear and understandable manner.
