Educational Support Worker - SEN

Location: Northampton
Start Date: September 2025 | Full-Time | Permanent & Long-Term Opportunities

Do you have a passion for supporting children with additional needs? Are you committed to making a real difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? A number of specialist and inclusive SEN schools across Northampton are looking for Educational Support Workers to join their dedicated teams from September 2025. These full-time roles offer a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who need tailored support, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

About the Role:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), and complex learning difficulties

Assist pupils with classroom activities, sensory programmes, and daily routines in line with personalised learning plans

Support behaviour management and promote positive, respectful interactions

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent, student-focused care

Contribute to a nurturing learning environment that supports emotional regulation and independence

Help with personal care and mobility where required (full training provided)

Record progress and observations to inform EHCP targets and ongoing support

We're Looking For:

Experience working with children or young people with SEND (in schools, youth work, care, or similar settings)

A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with a strong sense of resilience

Good communication skills and the ability to build trust with students and staff

A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to meet individual pupil needs

Understanding of safeguarding, inclusive practice, and person-centred support

Relevant training or qualifications (e.g. Team Teach, Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, or Health & Social Care) are desirable but not essential - full induction and training available
