About the Role

Orton Group is seeking aSenior SISS & Communications Commissioning Engineer with strong technical capability and supervisory leadership potential to support the delivery of rail and infrastructure projects across the UK.

This role is centred on thesetup, programming, fault-finding and commissioning of SISS and communications systems, working closely with site operatives, project teams, clients, and Orton management, playing a key role in ensuring that systems are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest quality standards.

The position will suit an experienced commissioning engineer who takes pride in technical excellence, professionalism, and supporting others on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setup, configuration, programming, testing, and commissioning of:
    • CCTV systems
    • Public Address systems
    • Data and information systems
    • UPS and associated infrastructure
    • Technical fault-finding and problem resolution on live sites
    • Providing on-site technical leadership and supporting engineers and trainees
    • Working closely with in-houseelectrical and fire discipline colleagues to coordinate successful system integration
    • Liaising professionally with clients, maintainers, and stakeholders during commissioning and handover
    • Supporting documentation, testing records, and quality assurance processes
    • Maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship, and compliance

Technical Requirements

  • Strong practical experience commissioning SISS and communications systems
  • Demonstrable capability withHanwha CCTV systems
  • Strong working knowledge ofCisco networking environments
  • Confident reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Experience working in live environments where quality and accuracy are critical

About You

  • Experienced commissioning engineer with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Comfortable balancing travelling, working away, site-based delivery with office time where necessary.
  • Clear, confident communicator — able to engage effectively with clients, operatives, and senior management
  • Highly organised, professional, and detail-focused
  • Rail experience beneficial but not essential
