Waste Haulage Officer –

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Waste Haulage Officer to oversee our clients team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the transportation and disposal of waste materials, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and operational efficiency. This is a critical role in managing waste logistics and supporting sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage a team, developing their skills and competencies to support changing priorities, and keeping the capabilities of the service current with business requirements.

  • To have experience in the operation of waste transport services (or equivalent service).

  • To participate in recruitment, induction, training and development programmes to help develop the service and ensure it has the skills it needs to deliver its forward programme.

  • To undertake performance management of staff including absence management, disciplinary and other relevant processes.

  • Identify and develop new commercial opportunities to generate income and manage costs effectively.

  • Be responsible for protecting and managing information securely, and reporting breaches or suspected information security breaches.

  • Manage key waste contracts, including Bulk Haulage, Plant equipment, Treatment, Recycling, Energy from Waste (EfW) and Landfill contracts.

  • Manage and monitor relevant waste budgets. To undertake the management of directly delivered services particularly haulage operations as required.

    Requirements:

  • Proven experience in waste haulage, logistics, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of waste management regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • A relevant qualification in waste management, logistics, or environmental science (desirable).

  • A valid driver’s license
