Job Title: Security Engineer (Zero Trust Networks)

Location: Hybrid (Primarily work from home, travel to London one-two days/ week)

Contract Details: • Type: Permanent Role • Salary: Up to £65,000/year (dependent on experience)

As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Security Engineer specializing in designing Zero Trust networks to enhance our security capabilities and help safeguard critical systems and data.

 


The Opportunity: This role offers an exciting opportunity to focus on the hands-on implementation, configuration, and optimization of Zero Trust security solutions across complex enterprise environments.

As a Security Engineer, you will be responsible for: • Developing and configuring Zero Trust network security controls. • Implementing security tools to enhance identity, access, and data protection. • Collaborating with IT teams to deploy security solutions into enterprise environments. • Optimizing and automating security processes to improve efficiency.

This hybrid role requires candidates to work remotely, with travel to London two days per week.



Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Security Engineering & Implementation: • Implement and configure Zero Trust security frameworks, including identity-centric security controls. • Deploy and enforce security policies aligned with Zero Trust principles. • Optimize and fine-tune security tools for continuous threat monitoring and protection. • Conduct hands-on security solution deployment and integration into existing systems.
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM): • Configure and maintain identity and access control mechanisms. • Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA), least privilege access, and micro-segmentation. • Support IAM teams in integrating security solutions within cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Network Security & Micro-Segmentation: • Implement network segmentation strategies to limit lateral movement within enterprise environments. • Deploy and configure network security controls, including software-defined perimeters and secure access service edge (SASE) solutions. • Configure and manage security tools for continuous monitoring and threat detection.
  • Cloud Security & Secure Access: • Implement cloud security measures aligned with Zero Trust frameworks for Azure and hybrid environments. • Deploy and maintain secure remote access solutions. • Ensure security controls are correctly integrated across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS environments.
  • Security Operations & Risk Mitigation: • Support security assessments to identify and remediate vulnerabilities. • Assist in security incident investigations and response activities. • Work with IT teams to implement security patches and updates. • Provide input into security control enhancements and compliance measures.
  • Automation & Process Optimization: • Develop automation scripts for security processes and configurations. • Use scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, KQL) to improve security monitoring and response capabilities. • Support DevSecOps initiatives to embed security in development pipelines.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Must have 3+ years implementing and configuring Zero Trust architecture.
  • Strong hands-on experience in security engineering and network security.
  • Proficiency in configuring identity and access management (IAM), including MFA and privilege management.
  • Experience with network security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, and micro-segmentation.
  • Expertise in implementing cloud security controls in Azure and hybrid environments.
  • Familiarity with security compliance standards (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, etc.).
  • Experience with security operations, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, or KQL).

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • CCNP Security, Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Expert.
  • Azure Security Engineer, or similar cloud security certifications.
  • Experience with Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions (Zscaler, Prisma, NetSkope for example).
  • Experience with security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) tools.
  • Understanding of penetration testing and ethical hacking methodologies.
