Job Title: Security Engineer

Location: Welwyn Garden City

Remuneration: Daily rate from £750

Contract Details: Fixed Term Contract (6 months)

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute queries to enable robust threat detection across various platforms.
Leverage your working knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems to enhance security measures.
Collaborate with team members while also being capable of working independently to tackle security challenges.
Understand and analyse modern attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to fortify defences.
Translate threat intelligence into actionable detection logic, ensuring our systems remain secure.
Maintain a solid grasp of detection technologies to stay ahead of potential threats.
Demonstrate a broad understanding of security concepts and exhibit a genuine passion for cybersecurity.
Apply an analytical approach to problem-solving, especially when working on production systems at scale.
utilise query languages such as KQL (Kusto Query Language) to optimise detection capabilities.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, Batch, and PowerShell to streamline processes.

Key Skills and Experience:

Proven ability to develop queries for effective threat detection.
Strong knowledge of operating systems: Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Experience in translating complex threat intelligence into practical applications.
Familiarity with modern attacker TTPs and detection technologies.
Demonstrated passion for cybersecurity and a proactive approach to learning.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in query languages, particularly KQL.
Experience in developing automation scripts in various programming languages.
