The Role

As aLead Security Architect (OT) Network, you will define and implement network security architecture strategy, working closely with the Networks team, IT, and business stakeholders. You will align with the client’s Security Architecture team to ensure global consistency and strategic direction. Reporting to the Group Head of Security Architecture, you will bring extensive experience in engaging senior stakeholders and operating within global teams. Your focus will include network architecture, threat assessment, risk analysis, and the implementation of controls to manage residual risk across both programme and project level.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and execution of the global OT network security architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and risk posture.
  • Collaborate with Security Architects, Business Architects and other stakeholders to design secure OT network solutions that support Zero Trust and segmentation models.
  • Define secure zoning architectures and security controls for critical OT environments, including guidance on protecting assets between network zones.
  • Contribute to the development and governance of network-related security policies, patterns, and standards.
  • Support integration of OT network security within broader enterprise security frameworks and architecture.
  • Assess risk, perform threat modelling, and drive decisions around secure network design and segmentation.
  • Work closely with Network team to embed security into network design, decommissioning, and operational models.
  • Define and support reusable network security blueprints for secure-by-design implementation.
  • Engage with Procurement to support security requirements in vendor solutions.
  • Monitor developments in OT network security and propose updates to improve scalability, resilience, and security posture.
  • Contribute to network-related audits, assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Provide expert input into infrastructure and application-level network security assessments.
  • Support secure solution design through collaboration across IT, engineering, and operations.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Proven experience in Network Security Architecture (or similar role) in a large-scale, high-criticality environment.
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Network Architecture across OT and IT domains.
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, with experience working in matrixed organisations and global teams.
  • Proven ability to define and deliver complex security architectures aligned with business, risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Clear understanding of zoning, segmentation, and secure connectivity models.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, ISO27001, SABSA, TOGAF, and relevant UK/EU regulations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical content for diverse audiences.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing competing priorities with minimal oversight.
  • Experience in threat modelling, risk assessment, and security control design.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CCNP/CCNA, TOGAF, OR SABSA.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as critical infrastructure, energy, or manufacturing.
  • Exposure to cloud and hybrid networking models (e.g., SD-WAN, remote access, VPNs).
  • Understanding of Zero Trust principles and their application in OT environments.
  • Familiarity with architecture governance and assurance processes.
  • Knowledge of tools and platforms for network monitoring, asset discovery, and policy enforcement.
  • Experience working with suppliers or vendors on security-critical solutions.
  • Ability to drive architectural decisions through influence, with a strategic and delivery-focused mindset.
