Join a leading system integrator delivering high-impact OT infrastructure solutions across the energy, utilities, and industrial sectors. This role sits in a well-established engineering team focused on secure, resilient systems design and delivery within highly regulated environments.

Operational Technology (OT) experience is essential. This role won’t suit someone from a purely enterprise IT background.

You’ll take the lead on Windows, virtualisation, and network architecture across multiple major OT projects, contributing to both delivery and pre-sales activity.

Key Responsibilities

Lead design and configuration of Windows Server environments, virtualisation (VMware/Hyper-V), and network infrastructure

Define secure architectures in line with IEC 62443 and client-specific standards

Support project lifecycle documentation (FDS, SDS, test plans), FAT execution, and QA compliance

Mentor and review work of junior engineers and provide SME input across bids and live workstreams

Interface with internal cyber teams to ensure systems are secure by design

Key Requirements

5+ years’ experience working in OT or industrial environments (energy, utilities, critical infrastructure, etc.)

Deep technical knowledge of:

Windows Server 2016–2022, domain config, GPOs

VMware or Hyper-V virtualisation

Switch and firewall configuration

Strong understanding of cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443)

Confident producing design documentation and leading technical delivery

Willingness to travel for projects across the UK

Full UK driving licence

Desirables:

SCADA platform experience (Zenon, PCS7, WinCC, FactoryTalk, etc.)

Knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus, IEC 104/61850, DNP3) and PLC/RTU platforms (GE, Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider)

Experience with IEC 61508/61511 safety systems

Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g. SIMIT, WinMOD) and legacy systems
