To be considered for this vacancy you will need to have the following experience:

Education / Qualifications

  1. Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area

  2. Professional qualification(s) in Information Governance fields, for example ISEB Certification in Data Protection, FOI, Information Security or other certificates in Information Governance or Specialist knowledge and expertise acquired through experience or theoretical study of a broad range of techniques / processes relating to the knowledge area.

  3. Qualified by experience and through evidence of continuous professional development to work at a senior level in a care provider, higher education, or research institution.

  4. Evidence of continual professional development over the last 3 years.

  5. PRINCE2 Practitioners or equivalent qualification

    Experience

  6. Minimum five years’ experience of working in the Information Governance field

  7. In-depth experience of working in an Information Governance/ field with care provider(s) higher education, or research institution.

  8. Dealing with members of the public

  9. Three years’ experience of developing awareness and training programmes for staff

  10. Providing IG as service in a research environment

    Knowledge

  11. Knowledge of Information Governance issues relevant to the health or social care including relevant specialist organisational / procedural / policy knowledge in relation to records and information management.

  12. Sound knowledge and understanding of NHS Information Governance agenda and the Data Security & Protection Toolkit

  13. Knowledge and understanding of the IG agenda, including Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation, Caldicott Report guidelines, security, confidentiality, and the Goldacre Review.

  14. Specialist knowledge of IG in the research context

    Skills/abilities

  15. Ability to deal with complex issues and to distil information to identify what is required and seek appropriate responses

  16. Ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders of all grades, and able to build effective working relationships with customers, managers and staff

  17. Ability to work to a demanding work schedule

  18. Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and detail

  19. Ability to undertake thematic analysis of risks, incidents and other compliance elements

  20. Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise between competing demands.

  21. Good numerical skills and ability to analyse complex issues.

  22. Good all round IT skills including email, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software.

  23. High level of drive and determination.

  24. Sound judgement and attention to detail.

  25. Able to build effective contacts and networks.

  26. Ability to work effectively as part of a team
