Our client are seeking a Digital Building Consultant to join their growing Digital Buildings team.

You will be responsible for delivering end-to-end consulting services on smart building projects – from early-stage strategy, design specifications and RFPs, through to vendor selection, construction-phase coordination, and deployment oversight.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in Building Management Systems (BMS/BEMS) and IoT, a working knowledge of construction environments, and the ability to bridge the gap between design intent and operational performance.

Responsibilities:

• Engage with clients to define smart building objectives and project scope

• Develop technical specifications and smart building design briefs

• Produce and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and bid evaluations

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams (e.g., IT, MEP, AV, FM)

• Oversee system integration, vendor performance and site deployments

• Support the commissioning and validation of smart building systems

• Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments and issue resolution

• Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and relevant industry standards

• Deliver close-out documentation including as-builts, O&M inputs and training packs

• Promote MiX’s smart building capabilities across the market

• Evaluate new technologies and maintain knowledge of evolving industry trends

• Understand cybersecurity and information security best practices

• Take ownership of projects and ensure delivery to scope, budget, and programme

• Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and a commitment to quality

• Maintain a strong health and safety culture in line with MiX’s IMS policies

• Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in smart buildings, BMS/BEMS, or related fields

  • Technical understanding of building systems integration, controls, and protocols (BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, etc.)

  • Familiarity with construction and commissioning processes

  • Strong documentation and specification writing skills

  • Experience managing vendors and working in live project environments

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and collaborative tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams)

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Desirable Experience:

  • Exposure to open-source ontologies and smart building frameworks (e.g. Brick, Project Haystack, DBO)

  • Experience working with or implementing digital twins, analytics platforms, or middleware (e.g., Niagara,

  • Tridium, FIN Framework)

  • Understanding of sustainability goals, WELL/LEED standards and occupant experience metrics

  • Experience in supporting smart campus or smart city initiatives
