Here at Lookers, we are recruiting for a Cyber Security Engineer, with a very flexible hybrid working approach and occasional travel to our state-of-the-art Head Office in Altrincham. Reporting to the Head of Information & Cyber Security, this is an exciting and hands-on role where you will be responsible for the operational IT security across Lookers IT, including our dealerships and online presence. The post holder will be responsible for providing assurance that our new and existing services remain sufficiently secure through activities such as Purple Teaming, so that we can provide an outstanding retail experience and remain trusted by our customers. As a senior member of the Information & Cyber Security Team, you will focus on change initiatives, act as the Subject Matter Expert/Technical Owner for at least one technology component and act as an internal escalation point and source of expertise for operational incident resolution.

Responsibilities
  • Actively contribute to and support the IT security strategy.
  • Set and measure clear, realistic and timely objectives and goals.
  • Anticipate the impact of executing plans across Lookers IT and have a flexible approach to managing time to allow for contingencies, anticipating and removing potential obstacles.
  • Use resources and time expertly, and skillfully and promptly sort the urgent and important priorities within complex processes.
  • Through your actions and behaviours, continually inspire others to remain calm, focused and energized during periods of extreme pressure.
  • Encourage a calm approach to the work environment around you, even when faced with the most challenging of situations.
  • Build on successful initiatives to gain acceptance of ideas, including building behind-the-scenes support for ideas and initiatives.
  • Clearly identify what constitutes the appropriate level of workload for yourself and others, ensuring processes and tasks are planned to limit levels of stress while remaining productive.

Experience conducting security control assessments or audits is required, including maintaining sufficient technical skills and understanding to conduct assessments of IT systems to verify whether systems have been configured in line with industry-accepted standards and have been sufficiently secured. You will have proven experience operating Cyber Security controls.

Able to advise software development managers to ensure that appropriate IT security requirements are addressed within the Software Development Lifecycle. Able to advise upon the IT security architectural principles for Lookers IT and have one or more relevant IT security qualifications from a recognized body, such as CompTIA, ISC2 or ISACA with Cyber Security Essentials and/or PCI DSS compliance.
