Contract type: Permanent, Full time

Salary: Between £55,000-£65,000 Depending on Experience

Hours: Monday to Friday (plus periodic on-call support rota)

Here at Lookers we are recruiting for a Cyber Security Engineer, with a fully remote approach and occasional travel to team meetings.

Reporting to the IT Security Team Lead, an exciting and hands-on role where you will be responsible for all aspects of security across Lookers IT, including our dealerships and online presence. This is a fabulous opportunity to pivot your strong IT background into Cyber security.

Responsibilities

Providing assurance that our new and existing services remain sufficiently secure, so that we can provide an outstanding retail experience and remain trusted by our customers. Performs Daily Security Operations TasksOwning and addressing operational incidents, escalating as necessaryContinuously improving operational tasks to ensure ongoing effectiveness Acting as Subject Matter Expert for one or more of our core security technology toolsEnsuring it remains fit for purposeFull lifecycle managementTraining others in the use of it, both within the team and the wider IT community Owns items on the team’s backlog and roadmapDelivering point solutionsAssessing wider change initiatives for security complianceRemediating known deficienciesAddressing outputs of penetration tests, purple teaming, risk and audit findings

Skills

Sets and measures clear, realistic and timely objectives and goals. Anticipates the impact of executing plans across Lookers IT and has a flexible approach to managing time to allow for contingencies, anticipating and removing potential obstacles. Uses resources and time expertly, and skillfully and promptly sorts the urgent and the important priorities within complex processes. Through their actions and behaviours, they continually inspire others to remain calm, focused and energised during periods of extreme pressure. Always encourages a calm approach to the work environment around them, even when faced with the most challenging of situations Builds on successful initiatives to gain acceptance of ideas, including building behind the scenes support for ideas and initiatives. Clearly identifies what constitutes the appropriate level of workload for self and others, ensuring processes and tasks are planned to limit levels of stress, whilst remaining productive.

Experience

A solid understanding of core IT concepts is essential. This should cover a working knowledge of both IT Infrastructure and IT Service Management.  Problem solving capability, and ability to “join the dots” into a bigger picture. An independent worker who can take ownership, build, operate, continuously improve and deliver. Experience of Risk Management and/or Cyber Security is beneficial, but NOT ESSENTIAL Capability to “go beyond the tools” and deliver the necessary outcomes through own innovation and scripting/development where needed.
