UK Security Clearance to SC level

Introduction

Saab UK is part of Scandinavia's largest defence company, bringing together the best of Swedish and British innovation. Saab offers world-leading solutions and services in defence, aviation, space, and civil security to keep people and society safe. Our UK presence has been growing at pace, meaning we can offer a wide range of opportunities for personal fulfilment and career growth. We currently employ over 600 people across eight sites in the UK, and our specialisations include software engineering, underwater robotics, radars, AI, and armed forces training.

The Role:

Following planned expansion, Saab UK is seeking a Field Support Representative to join the Programmes Team within Sensor Systems UK. The successful candidate will be trained to support the UK military's in-service radar systems in Hampshire and Yorkshire and will deploy internationally in support of the growing Giraffe 1X (G1X) radar fleet.

The role involves customer-facing radar technical support across installation, maintenance, fault-finding, training, and operational deployments of radar systems in demanding environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planned and preventative maintenance of radar systems, including input to maintenance schedules.

  • On-site technical support to UK military personnel operating in-service radar systems.

  • Installation, integration, and verification of radar systems and associated subsystems.

  • Support to software loading, configuration, and interfaces with Command and Control systems.

  • Fault diagnosis and repair across electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, cooling, and power systems.

  • Support to trials, exercises, and operational deployments in the UK and overseas.

  • Training and mentoring end users in operation and basic maintenance of radar systems.

  • Support to other business areas including customer support desks, programme delivery, and OEM activities.

  • Reporting and administration related to projects, deployments, and training activities.

Qualifications and Skill:

Essential:

  • Background or interest in radar, electronic, or other complex technical systems.

  • Experience in a technical, customer-facing role demonstrating fault-finding in high-pressure environments.

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including overseas deployment at short notice.

  • Medically and physically able to undertake deployment-ready training.

  • Computer literate.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance to SC level.

  • UK or Swedish citizenship.

Desirable:

  • ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical discipline.

  • Multi-skilled with an electrical or electronic bias.

  • Previous military experience.

  • Experience delivering technical or instructional training.

  • Experience of working on engines and/or motor vehicles, whether through previous employment or as a hobby.

As a National Security Vetting clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold National Security Vetting clearance to SC level or have the ability to gain it.

By submitting an application to Saab UK you consent to undertaking workforce screening activities that may include but are not limited to: Baseline Personnel Security checks, National Security Vetting, reference checks, verification of working rights and in all circumstances preferred candidates will be placed through a security interview.

Where to Advertise Cyber Security Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise cyber security jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, communities and channels that reach offensive, defensive and GRC security talent. The candidate pool is small, heavily vetted and in high demand across government, financial services, critical national infrastructure and the private sector simultaneously. Many of the strongest candidates hold active security clearances, are not actively job-searching through general platforms, and move primarily through specialist networks and trusted referrals. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that security professionals expect. Specialist platforms, government-affiliated channels and cleared candidate networks each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by CybersecurityJobs.tech, covers where to advertise cyber security roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Cyber Security Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Cyber Security Jobs UK 2026: roles, salaries and the threat intelligence, cloud security and zero-trust hiring trends shaping UK cyber careers. Cyber security is one of the few sectors where demand for talent has never once dipped. Every major technological shift of the past decade — cloud migration, remote working, AI adoption, the proliferation of connected devices — has expanded the attack surface that security professionals are expected to defend. And every expansion of that attack surface has generated more jobs. But the cyber security jobs market of 2026 is not simply a larger version of what it was three years ago. It is a structurally different market. The threats have evolved, the technologies used to combat them have changed, the regulatory environment has tightened considerably, and the roles being created reflect all of that. A job seeker who understands only the cyber security landscape of 2023 is already working with an outdated map. The candidates who will thrive over the next three years are those who understand where the sector is heading — which specialisms are attracting the most investment, which technologies are reshaping defensive and offensive security practice, and how the definition of a cyber security professional is broadening well beyond the traditional image of a network defender in a SOC. This article breaks down what the UK cyber security jobs market is likely to look like through to 2028 — covering the titles emerging right now, the technologies driving employer demand, the skills that will matter most, and how to position your career ahead of the curve.
