The Permanent Division of Robert Half is recruiting for an IT Support Specialist on behalf of a specialist sales and service business with offices in Bedford
The Role
As IT Support Specialist you will take responsibility for helping across business systems, software and processes and needs someone with strong technical understanding of computer systems, training, implementation, best-practices, and technical problem solving. This full-time, onsite role will maintain operation of the local office, regional offices and warehouses, and remote users. This includes new laptop preparation and upgrades, break/fix, peripheral support, asset inventory, and assistance with server, network, phone system, and audio-visual equipment.
Day to day duties will consist of:
- Ensure that appropriate measures are taken to keep the enterprise-wide network available to users. Implement new technologies to improve performance and provide the latest tools to access company information. Carry out responsibilities as instructed by more senior staff within the IT Infrastructure and Operations team.
- Provide remote support for locations in EMEA, APAC, and North America, working collaboratively with IT staff to ensure continuity of service. Must be capable of working independently and escalating issues to other team members as necessary.
- Create and maintain documentation and perform technical training to assist end users and team members.
- Develop and assist in the rollout of strategic corporate initiatives and system changes, which may include office moves, mass system upgrades, hardware inventory and lifecycle support, and special projects.
- Improve existing programs by reviewing objectives and specifications; evaluating proposed changes; recommending changes; making modifications.
- Perform application deployment and system imaging leveraging Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
- Support endpoint vulnerability management through security related applications (e.g., anti-virus, vulnerability scanning, & patch management)
- Participate in support activities and enhance daily operations including opening and closing procedures and uphold all corporate and IT Policies and Procedures regarding software, hardware, and equipment use and allocation within the company.
- Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting client devices, PCs, thin clients, printers, and other peripherals.
- Maintain network and system documentation, including network diagrams, facility location diagrams, system specific installation procedures, and procedural documentation. Maintain documentation of all IT related equipment, inventory management and company assets.
Your Profile
You will ideally have a degree in computer science or engineering technology or suitable work experience with aptitude and ability across operation systems like Microsoft Windows 10, iOS and Android and also experience of warehouse equipment, barcode printing and scanners etc. This is a role 5 days in the office in Bedford.
