Are you currently working Infrastructure and Security Engineer who is looking to develop their skills in a forward-thinking organisation?

Our client is currently seeking a proactive Infrastructure and Security Engineer who can provide hands-on technical leadership across the firm’s infrastructure and cyber security environment, ensuring systems remain stable, secure and scalable while supporting the transition to a cloud-first, governance-led model. You will take ownership of the day-to-day health of servers, networks, endpoints, Microsoft 365, Azure and security tooling, operating core security controls and acting as the senior technical escalation point for the Helpdesk team. The role blends day-to-day operational responsibility with involvement in IT projects and continuous improvement initiatives, keeping the technology environment robust, compliant and ready for future growth. JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Manage day-to-day health and stability of infrastructure and cloud environments
  • Support and maintain servers, networks, storage and endpoints
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune and endpoint management
  • Monitor performance, availability and capacity, resolving issues proactively
  • Implement upgrades, patches and configuration changes
  • Assist with backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Operate and maintain core cyber security controls
  • Monitor alerts and suspicious activity; support incident response
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and support remedial actions
  • Assist with security audits, compliance work and risk assessments
  • Maintain security documentation, policies and audit evidence
  • Provide user guidance and training on secure technology use
  • Support Cyber Essentials and ISO27001 activities
  • Act as senior escalation point for the Helpdesk team
  • Coach Helpdesk staff on infrastructure and security best practice
  • Work with third-party suppliers and service partners
  • Support projects (cloud optimisation, network upgrades, migrations)
  • Act as technical lead for infrastructure/security workstreams
  • Contribute to technical design, testing and rollouts
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardisation and risk reduction
  • Stay up to date on emerging threats and best practices
  • Perform any other tasks required by management

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Strong experience in infrastructure support or systems administration
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune and Windows
  • Understanding of cyber security fundamentals (MFA, endpoint protection, patching, access control)
  • Experience monitoring performance, availability and capacity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Structured, methodical approach with strong documentation skills
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical users
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong project management and prioritisation skills
  • Experience with formal change control and governance processes
  • Good team player
  • Able to work unsupervised while maintaining confidentiality
  • Full clean UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience in professional services or legal environments
  • Exposure to Cyber Essentials, ISO27001 or similar frameworks
  • Basic scripting/automation (e.g., PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery testing and monitoring tools
  • Experience supporting cloud optimisation or infrastructure modernisation
