Cloud Engineer – Azure

Reed Technology are delighted to be working with a highly regarded organisation with their search for an Azure Cloud Engineer

This role demands a proactive approach to the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of services delivered on Microsoft Azure, ensuring high standards and alignment with service level agreements.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the design and deployment of Azure-based research services within a Service Management framework, ensuring compliance with university standards and service levels.
  • Develop and implement Azure DevOps best practices and build CI/CD pipelines to enhance software delivery efficiency.
  • Provide expert guidance on Microsoft Cloud technologies, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous learning within the team.
  • Create and review technical documentation including high-level designs, architectural statements, and standard operating manuals.
  • Ensure adherence to security, resilience, backup, and monitoring standards and policies.
  • Represent the Research Cloud Services at various meetings, including Change Advisory Board and Service Review meetings.
  • Identify and implement service improvements and work closely with IT teams to deliver exceptional IT services.
  • Respond to customer improvement activities and contribute to solutions ensuring they are fit for purpose and offer optimal value.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining Azure-based services, ideally with Azure DevOps.
  • Proven ability to produce detailed technical documentation.
  • Experience in supporting and developing environments and applications within Azure (e.g., WAMP/LAMP).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions adhering to OWASP developer best practices.
  • Proficiency in languages/middleware such as Asp.Net, Python, PHP, Apache.
  • Experience managing SQL databases (Azure DB, Managed SQL, MS SQL & MySQL).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with ITIL-based service processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to manage small projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Desirable: AZ 104, AZ 204/400 certifications, ITIL v3/4 qualification, experience in an Agile environment.
