WAF SME | London | Hybrid | Inside IR35 | 9-Month Contract

Our client, a large transformation consultancy, is looking for 2 experienced WAF SMEs to join a cybersecurity team in a hybrid role based in London. If you have a strong background in Web Application Firewalls and network security, and want to work on securing high-visibility online services — we want to hear from you.

Location: Central London (Hybrid)

Role Summary:
As a WAF Subject Matter Expert, you will lead efforts to implement, manage, and optimize Web Application Firewalls (WAF), ensuring secure, resilient, and high-performing web applications. Collaborate with IT and development teams, perform threat assessments, and contribute to strategic improvements in security posture.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement and configure WAFs (AKAMAI Kona Site Defender, AWS WAF, etc.)

*

Monitor security logs and respond to threats

*

Conduct vulnerability assessments and security testing

*

Define security rulesets and enforce policies

*

Deliver incident response and forensic analysis

*

Maintain WAF documentation and compliance reporting

Required Skills & Experience:

*

8+ years’ experience in software engineering

*

5+ years in network security

*

Strong knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, certificates (CA), and load balancing

*

Hands-on WAF experience (especially AKAMAI Kona Site Defender)

*

Incident response and forensic analysis capabilities

*

Relevant certifications (CISSP, CEH, AKAMAI) desirable
