Imperial College London is launching a major transformation of its Security Access Control System (SACS), that will modernise and future-proof Imperial’s physical and digital access infrastructure. This is a high-profile, cross-functional initiative that plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, accessibility, and operational excellence of our campuses.

We are seeking an experienced and driven Technical Security Operations Manager to lead and manage the operation of technical security services which incorporates SACS, as well as other access control (ANPR), fire alarm monitoring, building security systems including CCTV, emergency alert systems, communication systems, radio, and key management across all Imperial campuses.


You’ll ensure the provision of effective and efficient operational delivery of the technical security operations that protect our community and assets and prepares Community Safety and Security for emergency incidents when they occur.


You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders in the Property Division and ICT to optimise the performance of the systems to enhance service experience and meet the needs of users and stakeholders whilst operating in compliance with legislation including Data Protection and Imperial Codes of Practice.


You will have experience and expertise in protective security, alongside excellent organisational and interpersonal skills that will be used to develop best practice and procedures for the operational systems across Imperial.


This role requires a hands-on leader with a deep technical understanding of security tools, processes, and strategies.


We’re looking for someone who can bring:

Educated to degree level or equivalent


Qualification in Protective Security or equivalent experience
Previous proven experience of working in a similar protective security environment, such as Higher Education or Publicly Accessible spaces
Proven experience of managing and working with Technical Security systems and projects
Excellent communicator with passion for security and safety and the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships and interact with departments and contractors in relation to the development and enhancement of services and systems
Ability to manage and deliver complex projects and present written information clearly and concisely


Experience in higher education or similarly complex institutional environments is highly desirable.
