About the role 

We are looking to expand our team and recruit Engineers with experience in either bomb blast, façades or structures. 


You may not have bomb blast engineering experience, but you will require experience in structural dynamics with an interest to learn structural resilience and blast engineering. 


The role offers the opportunity to work on exciting and varied projects which could include industry-leading research and development, complex blast modelling, design of façade systems and structures against blast loading, and conducting physical testing to validate calculations. 


The role: 

  • Responsible for design, engineering, producing calculations, computational models, reports, and presentations.  
  • Opportunities for planning and implementing practical research and development within our test facilities and external test sites. 
  • Coordinating other members of the project team and contributing to internal technical development. 
  • Presenting designs at internal workshops and attending external meetings with clients when required.  
  • Collaborating with external clients in person in the UK and abroad. 
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and tenders.  
  • Mentoring and assisting less experienced Engineers whilst maintaining your continued professional development.  

 

About you: 

  • Desirable to have a minimum of 5 years engineering experience in either blast, façades or dynamic structural engineering. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree BEng / BSc or Master’s degree MEng / MSc in a relevant Engineering discipline. 
  • Desirable to have achieved ‘Chartered Engineer’ Member of the ICE or IStructE with the Engineering Council UK or equivalent body or be working towards ‘Chartered Engineer’ and will be ready for review with a recognised professional Institution within the next 2 years. 
  • Desirable to be a member of the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists or actively working towards membership. 
  • Can solve engineering problems using suitable methods of analysis, including hand calculations and computational analysis using proprietary software. 
  • Broad design knowledge, including codes of practice, gained from working on a range of different projects. Ability to work from first principles is desirable. 
  • Ability to convey complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Developed drawing and sketching skills, able to illustrate engineering details and concepts. 
  • Effective communication and inter-personal skills using written, oral and visual media. Ability to prepare reports, design concepts, and presentations.  
  • Must be willing and eligible to work in the UK. Please note this is a hybrid role. Our offices are based in Manchester and Horsham.
