Are you passionate about Net Zero, and looking for ways to apply your civil engineering capability to a Net Zero Market? Engineers at AtkinsRéalis are at the heart of delivering transformative projects that are lowering carbon emissions whilst achieving future energy security. Our Net Zero Energy Practice (within our Infrastructure division) is actively involved in projects spanning in electricity transmission and distribution, gas storage, battery storage, green hydrogen, power and industrial assets and other miscellaneous design and assessment work. You'll be part of multidisciplinary team with key expertise in the electrical transmission and distribution sector, but with goals and in an excellent location to provide project delivery capability into the other parts of the Net Zero Energy.

Our business unit offers a stimulating variety of work, from feasibility studies (optioneering and front-end engineering design) through to detailed design, site surveys, condition assessment and design verification.

Your Purpose:

Do you enjoy a wide variety of tasks and projects? We are looking for someone versatile; you could be working on a small individual assignment or as part of a larger, multi-disciplinary team. You will enjoy working closely with clients on a range of demanding issues whilst helping to mentor and train more junior colleagues. We are looking for someone motivated and with a positive attitude. We are building our Net Zero capability and would like someone to work with our civil and structural team lead to deliver technical work and support junior engineers.

Overall, you get satisfaction from building relationships, with clients and with colleagues. You enjoy getting to know people, and working out how you can have a positive impact on them - whether that's delivering something that a client needs or helping someone to progress within the organisation.

Examples of the types of work you will be involved in:

  • Supervising, developing, and mentoring others.
  • Managing technical aspects of civil / structural engineering projects. This may be over a range of design phases, from optioneering through to detailed design.
  • Pricing works and preparing technical proposals.
  • Condition and Structural Assessment of existing structures to identify suitability for reuse.
  • Design Coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Preparing specifications/ scoping documents.
  • Design lead leading our design capability in GTC, India.

What you can bring:

In addition to having strong communication and supervision skills, key attributes include the following:

  • Master's degree (MEng/MSc) qualified Civil or Structural Engineer.
  • Chartered Engineer and a Member of ICE or IStructE is desirable.
  • Strong technical background, with experience of steel and reinforced concrete design using relevant UK and international codes/standards.
  • Experience of working in the electricity supply industry, preferably HV substations, is desirable but not mandatory.

Why work for AtkinsRéalis?

To achieve this, our Energy Teams are ensuring a mix of secure and sustainable energies that can meet our industry and lifestyle demands today, and in 30 years' time. We help to power our world through exciting new technologies and intelligent cybersecurity systems on projects that vary greatly in size, scope, and scale. So, you'll be creating the right safe and resilient systems across nuclear power, renewables, decarbonisation development, new builds and energy efficiency.

We value your diversity and believe that everyone deserves to thrive - no exceptions. You'll be part of a culture committed to finding new talent from underrepresented groups. We're Disability Confident, an Inclusive Employer, and support STEM Returners. We also want to see more women in senior roles at AtkinsRéalis.
