Working as Specialist Security Consultant

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Security Consultant with a keen interest in Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) technologies. This role is ideal for someone early in their cybersecurity career who is eager to learn and grow within a dynamic enterprise security team. You will support senior consultants in delivering firewall and network security services across client environments, focusing on technologies such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and Checkpoint.

This is a client-facing role that blends technical understanding with a willingness to engage and support customers through their security transformation journeys.

Key responsibilities:

Support Delivery:

  • Assist in the implementation and support of NGFW solutions under the guidance of senior consultants.
  • Participate in configuration, rule-base reviews, and policy tuning of firewall platforms.

Client Engagement:

  • Shadow and support client engagements to understand business needs and translate them into firewall requirements.
  • Build foundational client-facing skills and grow into a trusted technical point of contacts.

SecurityOperations:

  • Help gather firewall logs and assist in basic troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist in the review of firewall rulesets and recommend minor changes to improve hygiene and compliance.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Produce accurate and professional documentation including configuration notes, change requests, and summary reports.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases and standard operating procedures.

Learning & Development:

  • Commit to continuous learning on NGFW platforms and foundational cybersecurity practices.
  • Work toward certifications such as PCNSA, Fortinet NSE 4, or Checkpoint CCSA.

What we expect from you:

  • 12 years in IT support, security operations, or relevant academic background.
  • Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, subnets, routing, DNS).
  • Familiarity with firewalls or basic exposure to NGFW platforms.
  • Willingness to learn and support enterprise-scale cybersecurity environments.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to qualify
  • Awareness of security frameworks such as NIST or ISO27001.
  • Exposure to security operations, monitoring, or endpoint/network protection tools.

By joining one of the world’s leading cyber security companies, you will be offered the following:

  • An opportunity to join a forward-thinking company, and a supportive work environment
  • Private medical healthcare
  • Health cash plan
  • Company pension
  • Life insurance
  • Income protection insurance
  • Company events several times a year

Please send your CV for immediate consideration.

How to Find Hidden Cyber Security Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like BCS, CIISec & More

The demand for skilled cyber security professionals in the UK has never been higher. With threats increasing in sophistication and frequency, organisations are urgently hiring ethical hackers, threat analysts, GRC specialists, and security architects. But many of the most valuable roles—particularly in government, defence, and critical infrastructure—are never publicly advertised. Instead, these jobs are shared behind the scenes through trusted networks, private communities, and professional bodies. In this article, we explore how to uncover hidden cyber security jobs in the UK using organisations like the BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT), CIISec (The Chartered Institute of Information Security), ISACA, and ISC² UK Chapter. We’ll show you how to use membership directories, special interest groups, CPD events and informal networks to gain early access to roles most people never see.

Redundancy is never easy—especially in a fast-moving field like cyber security, where your skills and experience are constantly evolving. But if you’ve recently been made redundant from a cyber security role, know this: the UK cyber workforce remains in high demand, and your expertise is more valuable than ever. Whether you’re a SOC analyst, penetration tester, incident responder, security architect or GRC specialist, there are still thousands of opportunities across sectors including finance, defence, government, retail, and critical infrastructure. This guide will help you turn redundancy into a career relaunch, with a clear action plan tailored to the UK cyber security job market.
