Senior Smart Buildings Consultant (Controls & BMS)

London, United Kingdom

£60,000 - £75,000

Full-time, Permanent

Are you passionate about smart technology and creating sustainable, efficient buildings? Our client is a leading multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm with a global reach at the forefront of designing cutting-edge digital environments across commercial, residential, and data centre projects. As part of their Smart Buildings team, you'll be working on projects that make buildings smarter, safer, and more efficient-helping shape the way people experience the spaces around them.

In this role, you'll be a key part of delivering innovative smart building solutions. You'll meet with clients to understand their needs, design smart building systems for everything from smaller installations to large, complex developments, and work closely with a vibrant multidisciplinary team covering BMS, ICT, Security, AV, and more. You'll collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to bring smart building visions to life, producing technical documents, specifications, and reports along the way. You'll also have the opportunity to guide commissioning activities, witness system testing, and support business development efforts to grow their digital buildings offering.

Our ideal candidate is both technically skilled and people-savvy. You should enjoy working collaboratively but also be comfortable taking ownership and working independently. A degree in engineering (or equivalent experience) with at least three years in building controls, BMS, IoT, or Smart Building technology is essential. Experience writing specifications, commissioning systems, and developing controls software will set you apart. Consultancy experience is a bonus but not required.

You'll thrive in this role if you're confident engaging with clients, translating technical ideas into clear, understandable concepts, and have a keen interest in IT, cybersecurity, and IoT. Familiarity with AV, CCTV, Access Control, ICT systems, and BMS platforms like Trend, Tridium, or Niagara is highly valued.

Why join them? This isn't just another job-it's a career in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. You'll work alongside passionate colleagues, continuously learn and develop your skills, and contribute to innovative projects that push the boundaries of smart building design.

If you're ready to take your engineering career to the next level and help create smarter, more sustainable spaces, this is your opportunity. Apply today and join a team that's shaping the future of buildings.
