Job Title: Senior Cyber Security Engineer
Division: Weir Business Services
Location: Glasgow (Hybrid)

Purpose of Role:The Senior Cyber Security Engineer role is a function of the Cyber Security Operations team. This is a highly technical role, and you will be responsible for leading on the planning, implementing, and managing the overall security operations tooling roadmap. You will engineer, implement, and monitor security measures for the protection of Weir Group. You will work closely with your colleagues within Security Operations which is made up of Level 1-3 Security Analysts, Threat Intelligence and Vulnerability Management Analysts to defend the enterprise against advanced security attacks.

We adopt the Plan – Build – Run model.

As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you will primarily support the Build function, ensuring security is embedded in new services, systems, and technologies throughout their lifecycle. You will also play a critical role in the Run function, monitoring, detecting, and responding to failures or improvements required across all security toolsets to ensure the ongoing protection and resilience of Weir’s systems and infrastructure. Additionally, you will contribute to security strategy, roadmaps, governance, and continual improvement, helping to strengthen Weir’s overall security posture.

Key Responsibilities:

·Provide Leadershipin the development, planning and execution of the security operations tooling roadmap, while supporting the Global Head of Security Operations in shaping and advancing overarching strategic initiatives

·Collaborateacross engineering, operations and project teams to ensure the smooth integration of security-focused project deliverables into operational service, maintaining alignment with broader security architecture and service management goals

·Partner with Managed Security Service Providersto design, implement and continuously enhance security controls, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements and the broader security engineering strategy

·Participate in a structured on-call rotation,providing security operations support one week per month to ensure continuous coverage and rapid incident response across critical services

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
 

· Subject matter expertise in at least one of the following security domains: Cyber Threat Management; Penetration Testing; Platform Protection; Computer Forensics; Network Architecture

· Experience leading the implementation and development of new security tools and technologies across a multi-site environment, preferably on behalf of multinational organisations

· Intermediate to advanced understanding of incident response techniques and basic programming knowledge

· Demonstrated experience in implementing and developing Microsoft security solutions, such as Defender, Sentinel and Purview would be beneficial

· The successful candidate must be comfortable working closely with a tight-knit, international team. You must be a communicator who shares ideas, supports others, and helps drive security goals together
