Castlefield are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Risk and Compliance Officer to join a dynamic and supportive Risk and Assurance team within a public sector organisation.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Risk and Compliance Officer, you will:

Support the delivery of the Risk and Assurance programme by embedding a risk-aware culture across the organisation. Contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust control and compliance framework. Provide 2nd line assurance to ensure risks are effectively identified, managed, and mitigated. Work cross-functionally to identify improvement opportunities and ensure alignment with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements. Support the Data Protection Officer with the management and administration of data protection and UK GDPR compliance processes. Assist in the delivery of training and guidance to promote compliance awareness and best practice. Monitor and report on risk trends, issues, and the effectiveness of internal controls.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

NVQ Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience. A background in risk management, data protection, or policy and compliance. Strong working knowledge of data protection legislation (Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. The ability to communicate clearly and confidently across all levels of the organisation. A collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
