Job Description:

Leonardo UK is seeking a proven, experienced Principal Consultant to join the Cyber & Security Solutions Division team. This role focuses on supporting the delivery of security aspects to the company’s core products and external stakeholders, requiring coordination with engineering teams across the entire engineering lifecycle, from requirements to in-service support and maintenance.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of significant programmes, ensuring products meet high standards aligned with customer requirements and risk appetite. You will be supported by a team of consultants, engineers, and product domain specialists.

The role involves solving customer problems in an agile, innovative, and team-centric manner. It may involve a hybrid working model, combining remote work and on-site collaboration at Leonardo offices.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Leading or independently managing cyber and information security delivery across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Interpreting customer requirements into security management plans, statements of work, and activities.
  • Becoming the lead security subject matter expert for the product.
  • Overseeing and delivering statements of work and artefacts within time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Managing risks and issues, escalating as needed.
  • Managing customer relationships for the security workstream.
  • Line management and mentoring of team consultants.

Skills, Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Required:

A passion for cyber and information security is essential. You should also have:

  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • A degree and/or MSc. in engineering or cyber security, or equivalent professional certification.
  • 5+ years of delivery experience in cyber/engineering roles.
  • Experience with MOD accreditation, secure by design processes, and relevant standards like NIST, Defstan, etc.
  • Experience managing risks and services per regulatory and legislative standards.
  • Experience with proprietary and open-source software, hardware, and firmware security.
  • Ability to develop and analyze security designs and conduct risk assessments.

Preferred additional knowledge includes:

  • Understanding of engineering lifecycle and key gate reviews.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic technologies and MOD/NCSC standards.
  • Experience with cyber security and airworthiness standards.
