Our client, operating within the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer on a contract basis to join their team. This role is essential for the design and development of hardware and firmware subsystems, focusing on advanced engineering solutions for future customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Defining Digital Signal Processing specifications
Designing and developing DSP systems
Defining ADC/DAC specifications
Designing and developing ADC/DAC systems
Integrating ADC/DAC into the digital processing system
Collaborating with experts and utilising world-class facilities for hardware delivery
Technical problem-solving alongside hardware design and product development

Job Requirements:

Experience with mixed signal ADC/DAC, FPGA, and SoC based design for high-performance signal processing, communications, and control
Proficient in AC/DC power conversion
Skilled in requirements definition, analysis, and architecture development
Experienced in PCB design and component engineering
Ability to conduct design verification & qualification testing, test & debugging, and production support
Knowledge of VPX system design and fast interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and JESDC
Proficiency in model-driven engineering using Matlab and Simulink tools
Familiarity with Mentor design tools and a structured approach to electronic design
Understanding of electronics test methods and equipment
HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Applied Physics, or extensive relevant skills and experience
Capability to achieve full SC security clearance, with 5 years UK residency
