The role

Reporting to the Operational Technology Networks Manager, The OT Network Engineer will support the Renewables Operational Technology networks across Hydro, Offshore and Onshore (Europe) renewable generation assets. The role will ensure the Networks and associated assets are both resilient and secure.

You will

Support the following key responsibilities:

- Operational support of data networks including assistance with fault-finding and resolution. Coordinate with vendors, contractors and engineering teams to ensure that the network infrastructure meets requirements. Monitor the network and recommend improvements to enhance performance, security and reliability.

- Contribute to the data & voice network technical strategy. This includes associated network plans/designs to provide resilient and secure services for a dedicated SSE Renewables (SSER) OT network. To support on-going strategic planning and produce designs as required by SSER projects and initiatives.

- Work closely with project delivery teams and network service providers to support related projects & activities. Contribute and support the development of Network improvements, upgrades and obsolescence management.

- Manage the Renewables OT Network Firewalls by providing design and support to ongoing Network changes, become a subject matter expert on the ongoing management of the Firewalls to assist in any projects and BAU activities. Work closely with the Cyber Security and Cyber Resilience Operational Technology teams to ensure that cyber security standards are observed.

- Develop and maintain technical documents, designs & diagrams to support Operations, Network strategy development and implementation.

You have

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Strong knowledge and experience of the operation and design of data networks including knowledge of cybersecurity and associated mitigation techniques.

- Proven Network Experience supporting and implementing routing technologies, Firewalls and switches, preferably Fortinet and Cisco. Experience in design, deployment & configuration of networks including WAN/SDWAN & Perimeter Security technologies. Knowledge of telephony services and associated voice connectivity.

- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to convert ideas into effective plans that support improvements of the OT Network.

- Understand NIS compliance requirements associated with Operational Technology.

- Possess strong oral and written communication skills to a level suitable to liaise with senior stakeholders at a detailed technical level.
