About the job you’re considering​

As a Materials Engineer you would be responsible for delivering design, development, manufacturing, testing and in-service Materials support to Defence Aerospace Projects. The team has multiple relationships, both internally and externally, with defined customer service level agreements on performance and delivery in line with agreed deadlines. The Materials Engineer role provides the opportunity to gain experience of the materials, processes, components and products produced by our client and its suppliers as well as developing key skills and competencies for further personal development.
As part of this role you will be responsible for supporting a multidisciplinary team that collaborates to solve complex, real-world problems associated with Defence Aerospace Projects. Managing small to medium size tasks performing materials selection and corrosion assessment related to component non-conformance.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.​

Your role

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Engineering Studies (Welding technology, Corrosion Assessments and Materials Selections etc).

  • Performing engineering calculations (e.g. corrosion & erosion).

  • Production of project engineering documents (e.g. Materials Selection, Corrosion Management).

  • Production of written technical assessment and notes for reporting of study results.

  • Assist with preparation, checking or approving Engineering deliverables.

    Key Accountabilities:

    To provide technical and expert advice across Defence Aerospace programmes with a particular focus on design and supply chain production support
    Support design of test programmes and analysis of test programme data
    Investigate engineering development, production manufacturing and in-service issues using a structured analytical approach and presenting findings clearly and authoritatively

    Your skills and experience​

    Metallic and Aerospace experience

  • Degree in Materials Engineering & Chartered Status or working towards Chartership.

  • Experience in relevant materials related employment, preferably in the Aerospace Sector.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to build good working relationships across the business

  • Be a strong team player.

    Desirables:

  • Welding expertise.

  • Non-destructive testing

  • Pressure systems design experience.

  • Knowledge of the gas turbines and its components

    Your security clearance

    To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks. ​

    There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.​

    There are other criteria and checks required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
