Job Description:

We are an award-winning company and one of Europe’s leading designers and manufactures within the engineering sector. We employ over 250 staff and have a manufacturing base in Frimley, Surrey which spans over 5 plus units. We are seeking an innovative and dedicated individual for our new Security Engineer role within our IT team. This hybrid role offers the perfect balance of office and remote work, allowing you to thrive in a collaborative yet flexible setting.

Working Monday to Friday 8:30 – 17:00 and 8:30 – 14:30 Fridays, you will receive a salary of up to £50k, profit share scheme paid twice yearly, enhanced salary sacrifice pension, retail discounts, two paid volunteering days per year, cycle to work scheme, gym discounts, car maintenance scheme, saving, investments and debt advice, voluntary private healthcare plans and more.

As a Security Engineer, you will work closely with our internal IT team and partner with an external Security Operations Centre to tackle and resolve network security challenges. Your role will be pivotal in safeguarding our infrastructure and ensuring robust security measures are in place. This a brand-new position, offering you a unique and exciting opportunity to shape, establish and evolve our security practices.

The role of Security Engineer is to provide support to the IT Manager in terms of planning, managing and maintaining our security strategy to ensure the highest levels of availability and security of the IT infrastructure and working alongside a team of 6, the key responsibilities for this role include:

Collaborate with SOC/SIEM providers to address and resolve all security alerts promptly. Implement and follow through on recommendations from external security audits. Develop, maintain, and execute a comprehensive Security Roadmap to ensure ongoing protection and compliance. Achieve and uphold essential security accreditations, demonstrating our commitment to industry standards. Coordinate with support companies to ensure seamless integration and support of security measures. Oversee and manage Microsoft Defender 365 and Intune to safeguard our digital environment. Devise and implement a strategy to maximise our E3 applications to support the Security Roadmap Lead, evaluate, and report on project activities, ensuring all deadlines are met with efficiency and accuracy. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, fostering collaboration and transparency. Train and mentor team members on critical job-specific functions, enhancing their skills and performance. Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the IT team

To be successful for the Security Engineer role you will need the following skills and experience:

Knowledge and practical experience in managing Meraki firewalls, VPNs, Microsoft Defender EDR/XDR, mail filtering, and other security products Proficient in network troubleshooting Understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem including, but not limited to, licensing requirements, Identity Access Management, User Risk Policies, Conditional Access Policies, App Registrations, and Intune Practical experience with vulnerability assessment and management using Microsoft Defender or other tools. Experience in designing and managing mission-critical infrastructure is preferred. Experience with implementing Zero Trust and Defense In Depth practices in a variety of environments Familiarity with Linux and Windows environments is preferred. Familiarity with Risk Assessments, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Incident Response Knowledge of ISO27001, Cyber Essentials (CE), and Cyber Essentials Plus (CE+)

In addition to the above, if you do have experience in the below this would be an advantage but not essential.

Familiarity with SQL Database management Experience with Security Information Event Management (SIEM) tools Awareness of CIS Benchmarks for Windows Endpoints and Servers Experience of 1st and 2nd line helpdesk support, including Systems support

This is an exciting new role and we can offer a salary of £32,000 – £50,000 for this role, profit share scheme paid twice yearly, enhanced salary sacrifice pension, retail discounts, and much more.
