We are partnering with a prestigious independent educational organisation based in Wiltshire seeking an experienced Director of IT to lead their IT services and digital strategy.

About the Role

As Director of IT, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the IT department, supporting teaching, learning, and administration through effective technology delivery. This senior role involves shaping the IT strategy, overseeing infrastructure, data security and compliance (including GDPR), and managing a team of technical specialists. You will work closely with senior leadership and stakeholders to ensure IT services align with the organisation’s goals.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a forward-looking IT and digital learning strategy in collaboration with leadership

Manage IT infrastructure, systems, applications, and service delivery with a focus on continuous improvement

Lead data security, GDPR compliance, and risk management initiatives

Oversee staff recruitment, development, and performance management within the IT department

Act as an ambassador for IT services across the organisation, communicating updates and training opportunities

Ensure robust business continuity and disaster recovery planning

Collaborate with safeguarding teams on filtering and monitoring systems

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience managing IT teams and budgets in a regulated or education environment

Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, network systems, and emerging technologies

Up-to-date understanding of data protection laws and cybersecurity best practices

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Ability to lead strategically while managing day-to-day operational delivery

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
