The Company
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an accomplished IT leader to make a significant contribution to the strategic and operational development of this iconic and highly respected engineering Group. Our client is a major force in its core sectors - a £300m business with a proud history of quality driven engineering excellence operating in the defence and commercial engineering space. It is renowned for its first-class facilities, highly skilled workforce and exceptional customer focus, working with some of the biggest names in the defence sector. With future expansion on the agenda, the Group wishes to appoint a talented IT leader, to manage the end to end development of the Group’s IT infrastructure, bringing a higher degree of uniformity across Group companies.
The Role
Reporting to the Group CFO, with full budget and P&L responsibility and as a key member of the SLT, responsibilities will be as follows:-

  • Lead, mentor and develop an experienced IT team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Define and execute a Group wide IT strategy, bringing strong infrastructure, systems and security, whilst delivering enhanced uniformity
  • Working at Board level, provide expert advice on aligning IT strategy with company objectives to support scalability and business growth
  • Ensure the reliability and efficiency of IT systems, optimising process improvements and synergies across the Group
  • Develop and enforce robust cybersecurity measures, proactively identifying and mitigating IT risks to safeguard company assets and data
  • Establish and maintain IT governance frameworks and policy, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, driving efficiency, cost-effectiveness and innovation
  • Lead on the adoption of new technologies, ensuring the company remains competitive in a fast-evolving IT/digital landscape
    About You
  • An experienced IT Director/Head of IT with a proven record in a senior leadership role, preferably within a multi-entity organisation in a manufacturing or engineering setting
  • High level understanding of all aspects of IT, covering strategy, governance, infrastructure, risk and security, compliance, websites and cloud hosted solutions
  • Ideally, Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISM, or CISSP are advantageous
  • Exceptional leadership, people and stakeholder management skills, coupled with the ability to communicate and present at Group board level
  • Demonstrable ability implementing innovative IT solutions which deliver strong and robust systems and enhance business performance
