Job Description:Role Profile

Reports to: Head of Infrastructure, Network and Cyber Security

Key Relationships: Digital Transformation and Tech, Retail, Facilities, 3rd Party Partners

Location: Piccadilly, with occasional travel to all sites

Role Purpose

This role offers a strategic opportunity within the infrastructure and security domain, focusing on advanced technical solutions and long-term security strategies across cloud, on-premises servers, networking, storage, security, and backup systems.

You will provide 2nd and 3rd line support, ensuring a secure, scalable, resilient, and high-performance infrastructure supporting critical business operations. The role involves shaping security architecture, implementing cyber resilience frameworks, and enhancing cloud security, identity management, and compliance.

You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to innovate, optimize security operations, and align infrastructure growth with business needs. The role includes mentoring, influencing architectural decisions, and working on projects that improve business continuity and risk mitigation.

ResponsibilitiesOperational Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical initiatives to improve infrastructure and security.
  • Maintain and optimize servers, hypervisors, virtual machines, Microsoft services (Intune, Entra, Office365, Azure, SQL Server, SCCM, File & Directory services).
  • Ensure the health and security of Cisco Meraki networks.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, maintain PCI DSS compliance, and improve security following NIST and ISO standards.
  • Implement secure device imaging with Microsoft Intune & Autopilot for retail and corporate devices.
  • Manage security tools such as SIEM, endpoint protection, and access controls, including automated threat detection and incident response.
  • Create documentation, procedures, and diagrams for infrastructure management.
  • Plan and test disaster recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with support and transformation teams to ensure security and performance.
  • Produce clear documentation for teams and stakeholders.
  • Embed infrastructure strategies into operational workflows.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and lead cross-functional security initiatives.
  • Manage third-party vendors to ensure compliance and security standards.
  • Educate teams and promote a security-first culture.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Microsoft infrastructure expertise: Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure.
  • Networking: LAN/WAN/WIFI, TCP/IP, Cisco firewalls, switches, routing.
  • Database management: SQL Server basics.
  • Virtualization: VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter.
  • Scripting: PowerShell.
  • Hardware: Dell servers and storage.
  • IAM: Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, MFA.
  • Cloud Security: Azure security tools, compliance frameworks.
  • Threat and incident management: vulnerability assessment, threat protection.
  • Patch and endpoint management.
  • Backup and disaster recovery tools.
  • Monitoring tools experience.
  • Cisco certifications (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE).
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, AZ-104).
  • Azure Security certifications (e.g., AZ-500) a plus.
  • Security standards knowledge (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
  • ITIL and ticketing systems familiarity.
  • Hybrid Cloud & Zero Trust architecture experience.
  • Automation tools: Terraform, Azure CLI.
  • Security operations and compliance experience.
  • Vendor management skills.
