About MIB
At MIB our people are passionate about making roads safer by getting uninsured and hit-and-run drivers off our roads. Working in partnership with the Police, Insurers and Government our collective aim is to make it a thing of the past but, until that’s accomplished, we’re here to compensate victims quickly, fairly and compassionately.
Last year we helped more than 42,000 people struck by uninsured and hit-and-run drivers and paid over £400 million in compensation to support victims rebuild their lives.
Job Role
At MIB, our Security Engineers:
Develop and optimise MIB’s security controls in conjunction with the relevant technology teams
Lead the provision of authoritative advice and guidance on the requirements for security controls in collaboration with experts in other functions such as legal, technical support Ensures architectural principles are applied during design to reduce risk and drives adoption and adherence to policy, standards, and guidelines
Are responsible for all Security technical change related activity
Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements
Consultancy : Actively maintains recognized expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms. Provides definitive and expert advice in their specialist area(s) and brokers the expertise from multiple sources, including third party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives. Supports and promotes the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation.
Research : Builds on and refines appropriate outline ideas for the evaluation, development, demonstration and implementation of research. Maintain expertise by tracking and understanding emerging security practices and standards. Monitors the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies. Assesses and documents the impacts, threats and technical control opportunities to the organization. Creates reports and technology roadmaps and shares knowledge and insights with others.
Security Administration : Monitors the application and compliance of security administration procedures and reviews information systems for actual or potential breaches in security. Ensures that all identified breaches in security are promptly and thoroughly investigated in conjunction with SecOps and that any control technology changes required to maintain security are implemented. Contributes to the creation and maintenance of policy, standards, procedures and documentation for security. Supports maintenance of MIB’s NIST capability maturity.
Governance : Ensure existing processes are updated to reflect current compliance requirements and create such processes where they don’t yet exist. Take part in the CAB and TDA processes to ensure security standards are maintained.
Skills and Knowledge
Demonstrable experience in similar role
Demonstrable experience in IT Security/IT Operations, or equivalent position
Strong analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills are essential
Strong verbal and written communications skills are essential
One or more of the following qualifications are highly desirable.
Knowledge and exposure to ISO, NIST, OWASP frameworks
Knowledge in security delivery roles
Experience with Cloud infrastructure. (Azure)
CISSP & technology specific qualifications or similar certification are a plus
Vendor technology trained (certifications) e.g., SIEM, EDR, IPS, web and email gateway
TOGAF or similar

Salary £66,000 per annum
Grade 13
35 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
IT kit supplied to you
£320 (before tax) start up allowance
Hybrid working (2 days in the office per week) from our newly refurbished Milton Keynes office, MK14
