What You’ll Be Doing as Finance Director 

Financial Strategy & Leadership 

  • Lead the financial operations across both properties, overseeing financial planning, reporting, and forecasting. 

  • Ensure monthly P&L accounts (actual vs budget) are accurately prepared, reconciled, and reviewed. 

  • Act as a key financial advisor to the General Managers, supporting them in interpreting financial reports and understanding cost control measures. 

  • Collaborate with heads of department to perform cost-benefit analyses on key projects and assist in departmental budget management. 

  • Support the preparation and submission of brand franchise returns and ensure financial compliance with brand standards. 

Financial Control & Compliance 

  • Ensure full compliance with financial regulations, tax legislation, and internal policies. 

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly VAT returns and assist with VAT inspections as required. 

  • Conduct internal audits and compliance checks, ensuring all financial operations meet RBH standards and mitigate risk. 

  • Work closely with the Divisional Finance Manager to ensure compliance, risk mitigation, and optimal financial performance. 

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, ensuring financial integrity and full regulatory adherence. 

Operational & Commercial Efficiency 

  • Oversee cash control procedures, including preparation and posting of bank reconciliations, credit card transactions, and cheque deposits. 

  • Implement robust financial controls and policies, ensuring a streamlined, transparent financial process across both properties. 

  • Work closely with procurement teams and suppliers to optimise financial processes and ensure cost-effective purchasing practices. 

  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, ensuring financial efficiency while maintaining guest service excellence. 

  • Support the purchase ledger team, assisting with problem areas across different hotels. 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Mentor and supervise the finance team, providing guidance, training, and professional development. 

  • Ensure all finance staff are properly inducted and provided with a structured training programme. 

  • Conduct regular training sessions and refresher courses on financial procedures, accounting principles, and financial software. 

  • Foster a culture of financial awareness and excellence across all departments.

From maximising revenue and controlling costs to ensuring financial compliance and training teams, your role will ensure these properties remain competitive and financially sound. 

About You 

  • Preferably ACCA qualified with experience in financial leadership roles, ideally in hospitality or a multi-site business. 

  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. 

  • Strong knowledge of financial legislation, tax regulations, and compliance standards. 

  • A strategic thinker, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights. 

  • Strong leadership and team development experience, with a focus on mentoring and training. 

  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills, ensuring financial accuracy and integrity. 

  • Experience working with financial systems and reporting tools  

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously. 

This role is ideal for an experienced  Cluster Financial Controller looking to step up and take ownership of a high-profile finance function within two of Edinburgh’s most prestigious properties.
