We are seeking an experienced Director of Procurement to lead and optimize the central procurement and supply chain function across our gaming organization. The role is responsible for setting, implementing and measuring the strategic purchasing policy of the organization and ensures there is an effective end-to-end procurement and supply chain services. The role will be responsible for aligning procurement strategy to the long term needs of the business and delivering savings in line with the wider business plan.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of gaming and technology supply chains, vendor management and cost optimisation. They will drive procurement strategies that support our high-growth studio development, hardware needs and operational efficiency without reducing the quality of our games and player service levels.

What you'll be doing:

Strategic Procurement Leadership

  • Develop and execute a global procurement strategy aligned with business goals, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and risk mitigation
  • Be accountable for the entire lifecycle of sourcing and procurement projects, from planning and bid preparation to budget / forecasting, negotiation, invoicing, risk management and reporting
  • Lead sourcing initiatives for game development tools, software licenses, hardware, cloud services and professional services
  • Work closely with Finance, Legal, IT and Gaming Development teams to optimise purchasing decisions

Supplier Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strategic relationship with key suppliers in the gaming and tech industry, ensuring strong partnerships.
  • Develop collaborative long-term partnerships with suppliers, contractors and outsourced service providers to ensure ongoing cost reduction, service improvement and innovation
  • Drive vendor selection, negotiation, and performance management to ensure high-quality, cost-effective solutions
  • Work collaboratively with the business to optimise costs, challenging the decisions taken elsewhere in the value chain, such as to challenge and reduce specifications, simplify and optimise delivery requirements and reduce last minute changes
  • Implement supplier risk assessments and contingency plans for critical supply chain dependencies

Cost optimisation and budgeting

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Partner with finance FP&A team to ensure accurate forecasting and budgeting for procurement expenditure
  • Implement and optimise procurement automation tools and spend analytics for real-time decision making
  • Responsible for regular forecasting demand to ensure on time supply, monitor and evaluate supplier performance against metrics for price, quality, delivery and customer service.
  • Identify appropriate department KPIs and measure and monitor performance against these

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice frameworks, ethical sourcing standards, and corporate policies
  • Mitigate risks related to IP licensing, software compliance and cybersecurity procurement
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of industry trends, market conditions and emerging technologies in gaming procurement

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management within the gaming, technology, or entertainment industries. Experience in hardware procurement (PCs, mobile devices, peripherals)
  • Strong expertise in negotiating contracts for software, cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud etc), game engines and development tools.
  • Strong understanding of business strategy with a focus on value creation and long-term success and ability to constructively challenge the status quo
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at all levels of the organization and supplier relationships
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in using data to drive strategic decisions and measure success.
  • Experience with implementing ERP systems and procurement automation tools

This is a Hybrid role requiring a minimum of 2 days a week at our office in Cambridge - 220 Science Park, Cambridge, CB4 0WA
