This is a part-time position 2-3 days per week.

We are working exclusively with a leading international money transfer business that is seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join them on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior privacy professional with a strong background in data protection gained within the financial services sector.

The Company

Our client is a trusted provider of secure, efficient cross-border payment solutions to customers worldwide. With operations spanning multiple jurisdictions, they place data protection, regulatory compliance, and customer trust at the heart of their operations.

The Role

This is a strategic position, reporting to senior leadership and acting as the organisation’s subject matter expert for all data protection and privacy matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and other applicable data protection laws, as well as embedding a strong privacy culture across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the organisation’s main contact for all data protection and privacy matters.
  • Maintain and enhance policies, procedures, and training to ensure ongoing compliance with UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and related regulations.
  • Monitor and audit data processing activities, identifying risks and recommending remedial actions.
  • Lead on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on privacy by design and default.
  • Oversee DSARs, breach management, and liaison with the ICO or other relevant regulators.
  • Advise on cross-border data transfers and ensure safeguards are in place.
  • Support new product and service development with expert privacy guidance.
  • Stay up to date with evolving legislation and advise senior stakeholders accordingly.

Candidate Requirements

  • Significant experience in a Data Protection Officer or senior privacy role.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and related privacy regulations.
  • Data protection experience within financial services, ideally payments or money transfer.
  • Strong track record in managing DPIAs, DSARs, and data breaches.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
