£38,420 per annum, plus Essential Car User Allowance

Acton Gate, Stafford (hybrid)

Hours:
37 hours per week, permanent

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Data Protection Officer to join our successful Legal & Governance Team on a full time, permanent basis.

The role

As a Data Protection Officer, you will play an integral role in supporting the Director of Legal and Governance in delivering compliant Data Protection, and Information Governance services within the organisation. You will keep up to date with relevant legislation and guidance and ensure these are communicated and understood across the Group. Your main responsibilities will include providing guidance to customers on all aspects of data protection, assessing GDPR compliance, maintaining relevant Data Protection registers and systems, investigating any alleged data breaches, and processing and responding to subject access requests.

What skills and experience we are looking for:

  • A recognised qualification in data protection, or equivalent experience and willingness to undertake any relevant training/qualification

  • Knowledge and understanding of data protection and its application to systems development and business processes to aid development of business continuity processes

  • Experience in a role requiring collaboration with a wide variety of colleagues, contact with customers, and working to deadlines

  • Ability to work with sensitive personal information, including medical and criminal offence data, and maintain strict confidentiality

  • Experience in a role requiring collaboration with a wide variety of colleagues, contact with customers, and working to deadlines

  • Experience in the use of a wide range of ICT systems both internal to the group and from external stakeholders, inputting information, producing reports and administering other users as required

  • Ability to champion good practice in regard to information governance, data protection, and information security
