Data Protection Officer (London – Hybrid)

ENGIE UK is seeking an experienced Data Privacy Manager - Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team and support multiple UK-based businesses. This role is pivotal in ensuring our data privacy compliance across various entities, including at least six UK registered companies.



We may consider a part-time applicant able to work 4 days a week. The role can accommodate flexible working arrangements with a combination of business locations and home working.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and monitor data protection compliance based on the Data Privacy Management System for the Engie EU Region.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and assist in governance of transactions involving personal data.
  • Provide advice, manage, and progress Subject Access Requests (SARs).
  • Classify and handle data breaches, ensuring correct reporting and investigation.
  • Review contracts and third-party data processing agreements.
  • Act as the primary contact for the Supervisory Authority on data protection matters.
  • Communicate data protection topics to UK colleagues and deliver training.
  • Create and submit compliance reports to Group Data Protection.


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU data privacy regulations and global privacy frameworks.
  • Excellent drafting and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage risk, governance, and compliance independently.
  • Comfortable interacting with stakeholders at all levels.


Experience:

  • Previous experience as a DPO.
  • Experience in developing and delivering policy and compliance training.
  • Preferred experience in the energy industry and large organizations.


Qualifications:

  • At least one data protection and/or privacy certification (e.g., CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, ISEB).
