Job Description

We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Security Operations Manager to join our Cyber Security team.

Job Type:Permanent

Location:This role could be based in either our Edinburgh, Telford or Wythall offices with time spent working in the office and at home.

Salary and benefits:£60,000 - £75,000 plus 16% bonus up to 32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

The role

We're currently recruiting for an experienced Security Operations Manager to oversee and enhance our security measures, ensuring the protection of our people, assets, data and reputation.

As a Security Operations Manager you will lead a team of security professionals, develop and implement security protocols, monitor threats, respond to incidents and ensure compliance to regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee daily operations of the cybersecurity team, ensuring effective monitoring and response to threats.
  2. Develop and implement security policies, protocols, and procedures to safeguard organizational assets.
  3. Manage security incidents, including detection, analysis, containment, and resolution.
  4. Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability testing to identify and mitigate potential threats.
  5. Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations.
  6. Lead and mentor the cybersecurity team, providing training and performance evaluations.
  7. Monitor and analyse security tools like SIEM and EDR solutions.
  8. Prepare detailed reports on security incidents and overall security posture for senior management.

What are we looking for?

  1. Strong understanding of cyber security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
  2. Proficiency in security tools and technologies, such as EDR, Firewall, IDS/IPS, and SIEM.
  3. Expertise in incident response, threat intelligence, and malware analysis.
  4. Leadership and team management skills to guide and motivate our cyber security team.
  5. Analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess risks and develop effective solutions.
  6. Excellent communication skills for reporting to stakeholders and collaborating across teams.
