Job Description: Cybersecurity Consultant
Job Title: Cybersecurity Consultant
Department: Cybersecurity / IT Risk Management
Reports To: Consulting Manager or Head of Cybersecurity
Position Overview:
The Cybersecurity Consultant is responsible for helping organizations identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks while implementing robust security solutions. This role involves evaluating the client’s existing security posture, recommending improvements, and assisting in the deployment of tools and policies to protect their assets. The consultant works across industries and ensures that clients achieve compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Engagement and Assessment:
Engage with clients to understand their cybersecurity needs and business objectives.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of IT infrastructure, networks, applications, and processes to identify vulnerabilities and threats.
Deliver detailed risk analysis reports, including prioritized recommendations for improvement.

Solution Design and Implementation:
Develop tailored security strategies, policies, and frameworks based on industry best practices.
Assist in the selection, configuration, and deployment of security technologies (e.g., firewalls, SIEM, endpoint protection).
Provide support during the implementation of security controls and procedures.

Compliance and Regulatory Guidance:
Help clients achieve compliance with standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.
Perform gap analyses and audits to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
Advise on documentation and reporting processes to meet compliance standards.

Incident Response and Recovery:
Assist clients in developing and implementing incident response plans.
Support investigation and remediation efforts during and after cybersecurity incidents.
Conduct post-incident reviews to strengthen defenses and prevent future breaches.

Training and Awareness:
Deliver cybersecurity awareness training to client employees.
Educate clients on emerging threats, trends, and technologies.
Promote a culture of security within client organizations.

Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, tools, and methodologies.
Recommend and implement innovative approaches to enhance security resilience.
Build long-term relationships with clients by providing ongoing support and advisory services.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in a cybersecurity role, preferably in consulting or advisory services.

Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity tools, technologies, and frameworks (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR, SIEM).
Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and vulnerability management tools.
Understanding of network protocols, cloud security, and encryption technologies.

Certifications (Preferred):
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
GIAC certifications (e.g., GSEC, GCED, GPEN)
ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementer
CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certifications

Other Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in report writing and delivering client presentations.
Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple clients and deliverables simultaneously.
