We have a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves all things bids & proposals to join our friendly and established Bid team with big ambitions, on a 12-month fixed-term contract to manage and support our pipeline of exciting tender opportunities.

What’s the role like?

Working in a supportive team, you’ll be responsible for managing the completion of competitive tenders, proposals, quotations and presentations. Working closely with our Sales and Group Support teams, you’ll create accurate and compelling content that brings to life our solutions and helps clients understand how we can deliver their talent priorities and solve their challenges.

Your role will include:

Content creation: You’ll lead the creative process, writing and coordinating team members and stakeholders to build compelling, well-structured and visually innovative content.

Stakeholder management: Each day is different! You’ll get the chance to work on multiple projects with varying teams to gather information and write compelling content. You’ll quickly learn the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of our business and you’ll be responsible for getting the best out of those you work with, managing their input and communicating timelines to build the best bid within the time given.

Process management: Supporting shared team inbox management, you’ll help triage support requests, qualify tenders and allocate tasks to peers within the team. You’ll support team processes, keeping our content up-to-date and helping drive continuous improvement measures.

Project management: Managing proposals and internal projects to set deadlines, ensuring internal quality checks are completed and client requirements are met.

Driving improvements: Join a team known as a ‘knowledge hub’ of how our business works and what ‘good’ looks like. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to use your understanding of business processes, sales best practice, client drivers, commercials & compliance to contribute to business improvement projects.

What you'll bring to the role:

Strong organisational and project management skills – you're great at juggling tasks, prioritising effectively, and meeting tight deadlines without compromising on quality or compliance.

Excellent attention to detail – you spot the small things that make a big difference.

A natural communicator and collaborator – you build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and work well with cross-functional teams.

Self-motivated and proactive – you take initiative, solve problems creatively, and always look for the best outcome.

Eager to learn and grow – you're passionate about your development and always looking to improve.

Creative and innovative mindset – you enjoy thinking outside the box and bringing fresh ideas to the table.

What we offer:

A great team: Our team has a great atmosphere and a desire to win, having won Team of the Year (twice)! We've received numerous personal awards and enjoy regular team socials, alongside our wider Strategic Sales team! We even have the odd book club meet up for keen readers!

Opportunity to expand your current experience: Our team all started out as strong writers with an interest in learning and we’ve supported them in becoming passionate Bid Writers and Managers.

Competitive basic salary, benefits and company performance-related annual bonus.

Flexible working opportunities, great office environments and free on-site parking.

Company socials, rewards and incentives: We reward high performers and those who live our company values! Our social calendar involves our annual ‘Gattstock’ event, nights out, all-inclusive holidays and awards.

How Many Cyber Security Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Cyber Security Job?

If you are trying to build or move forward in a cyber security career, it can feel like the list of tools you are expected to know never ends. One job advert asks for SIEM platforms, another mentions penetration testing tools, another lists cloud security, threat intelligence platforms, endpoint detection, scripting languages and compliance frameworks. Scroll LinkedIn and it gets worse. Everyone seems to “know” dozens of tools, certifications and platforms. Here is the reality most cyber security hiring managers agree on: they are not hiring you because you know every tool. They are hiring you because you understand risk, can think like an attacker and a defender, follow process, communicate clearly and make good decisions under pressure. Tools matter — but only when they support those outcomes. So how many cyber security tools do you actually need to know to get a job? For most job seekers, the answer is far fewer than you think. This article explains what employers really expect, which tools are essential, which are role-specific and how to focus your learning so you look credible, not overwhelmed.

The Skills Gap in Cyber Security Jobs: What Universities Aren’t Teaching

Cyber security has become one of the most critical disciplines in the modern economy. From protecting financial systems and healthcare data to securing national infrastructure, cloud platforms and supply chains, cyber security professionals now sit at the frontline of digital trust. Demand for cyber security talent in the UK has surged. Job vacancies remain high, salaries continue to rise, and organisations across every sector report difficulty hiring skilled professionals. Yet despite this demand, many graduates struggle to break into cyber security roles and employers consistently report that candidates are not job-ready. The problem is not intelligence, ambition or academic effort. It is a persistent and widening skills gap between university education and real-world cyber security work. This article explores that gap in depth: what universities teach well, what they routinely miss, why the gap exists, what employers actually want, and how jobseekers can bridge the divide to build sustainable careers in cyber security.
