I am working with a client in the Gloucester area who are looking for an experienced system administrator to join their team.

This is a senior role with a hands on focus rather than leadership. This client encourages proactivity and the environment supports those that want to get involved with project work and the technical direction of the business. Although they have existing systems in place, the right candidate will not be afraid to make recommendations if you can see a better way of doing things. You will have the support of senior leadership, and the freedom to be able to crack on with things!

Best practice is important; there will be an element of documenting this to bolster the efficiency of the team moving forward.

Key responsibilities:

Managing a hybrid environment - Azure and Hyper-V

IAM - Active Directory and Entra ID. Implementation of Zero Trust Principles, conditional access, and MFA.

Coordination with 3rd party support - MSP and SOC

Cybersecurity - managing and maintaining secure high performance environments.

Regulatory compliance - including GDPR, ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials+

DR and backup

Best practice - documentation, future proofing standards, implementation, and maintenance of knowledge base.

Small amount of on call with this role, which is given back as time off in lieu, so no need for extra working hours per week.

Essential skills:

Microsoft Azure systems administration

Azure VM - scalable and secure solutions experience, VNet

Vendor Management

Virtualisation

Windows Server administration

Active Directory, Entra ID, Group policy and configuration

Cloudflare

DNS, DHCP, VPN

PowerShell

Desirable:

Azure certifications

Cloudflare certifications

ITIL - V3 or V4 certification
