Technical Estimator – High Security

Location: Manchester/Remote

Salary: £42,000 – £47,000 DOE + Company Car or Car Allowance

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday

We are a well-established business with a proud history of delivering specialist security solutions to some of the UK's most demanding environments. Our reputation has been built over many years through technical expertise, trusted partnerships and a commitment to delivering quality without compromise.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Technical Estimator to join our High Security division. This is an opportunity to play a key role in developing technically robust and commercially sound solutions, working alongside experienced professionals who value collaboration, innovation and doing the right thing for our customers.

If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, take pride in producing high-quality work and thrive in a team environment where knowledge is shared and ideas are welcomed, we'd like to hear from you.

The Role

As Technical Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate, compliant and commercially viable estimates for electronic security system projects.

Working closely with commercial, operational and project delivery teams, you will bridge the gap between technical design and project execution, ensuring proposed solutions meet customer requirements, industry standards and business objectives. Your ability to assess risk, optimise value and maintain exceptional attention to detail will be critical to the success of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and technical proposals for electronic security systems, including:
  • Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS)
  • Access Control Systems
  • Associated hardware, software and supporting infrastructure
  • Review tender documents, specifications and technical drawings to fully understand project requirements, identify risks and develop effective solutions.
  • Produce technical submissions including system designs, equipment specifications, Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and scope of works documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain technical information and pricing, ensuring proposed solutions meet required standards and represent best value.
  • Work collaboratively with operational and project delivery teams to ensure estimates are practical, deliverable and aligned with installation methodologies.
  • Support value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives, balancing quality, performance and long-term commercial sustainability.
  • Maintain estimating tools, pricing databases and costing models to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with company procedures, quality standards and health and safety requirements.
  • Support pre-sales activities, client engagement and the identification of future opportunities.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of estimating processes, technical standards and innovative ways of working across the business.

About You

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with sound commercial judgement and a genuine commitment to excellence.

You will have:

  • Experience in technical estimating, system design or a similar role within the security, construction or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic security systems, particularly PIDS and Access Control Systems (CCTV experience would be advantageous).
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to build productive relationships with colleagues, suppliers and clients.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A willingness to undergo Security Clearance.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.

Why Join Us?

You will be joining a business that values expertise, encourages professional development and believes the best results come from working together. We respect the experience and knowledge that have shaped our success, while continually seeking better ways to serve our customers and improve what we do.

In return, you will have the opportunity to work on specialist, high-profile projects, contribute to meaningful technical solutions and develop your career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Where to Advertise Cyber Security Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise cyber security jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, communities and channels that reach offensive, defensive and GRC security talent. The candidate pool is small, heavily vetted and in high demand across government, financial services, critical national infrastructure and the private sector simultaneously. Many of the strongest candidates hold active security clearances, are not actively job-searching through general platforms, and move primarily through specialist networks and trusted referrals. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that security professionals expect. Specialist platforms, government-affiliated channels and cleared candidate networks each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by CybersecurityJobs.tech, covers where to advertise cyber security roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Cyber Security Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Cyber Security Jobs UK 2026: roles, salaries and the threat intelligence, cloud security and zero-trust hiring trends shaping UK cyber careers. Cyber security is one of the few sectors where demand for talent has never once dipped. Every major technological shift of the past decade — cloud migration, remote working, AI adoption, the proliferation of connected devices — has expanded the attack surface that security professionals are expected to defend. And every expansion of that attack surface has generated more jobs. But the cyber security jobs market of 2026 is not simply a larger version of what it was three years ago. It is a structurally different market. The threats have evolved, the technologies used to combat them have changed, the regulatory environment has tightened considerably, and the roles being created reflect all of that. A job seeker who understands only the cyber security landscape of 2023 is already working with an outdated map. The candidates who will thrive over the next three years are those who understand where the sector is heading — which specialisms are attracting the most investment, which technologies are reshaping defensive and offensive security practice, and how the definition of a cyber security professional is broadening well beyond the traditional image of a network defender in a SOC. This article breaks down what the UK cyber security jobs market is likely to look like through to 2028 — covering the titles emerging right now, the technologies driving employer demand, the skills that will matter most, and how to position your career ahead of the curve.
