Senior Backend Software Engineer - CyberSec / Start-Up

About the Company:

Hyre AI is recruiting for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a highly ambitious early stage cybersecurity start-up at a crucial time in their growth following a successful seed round.

Our client is on a mission to make the internet a safer place; their products aim to make sure that behind every click, login, and purchase - is a real human being.

If you're a scrappy engineer who wants a role with autonomy & impact, this role might just be for you!

What you'll be doing:

In this role, you won’t just be building features — you’ll be laying the technical foundation that allows for the verification of humanity at internet scale. You will:

  • Design and scale high-throughput APIs and microservices that power AI-driven fraud and bot detection engines.

  • Architect backend systems where latency and reliability are critical — because in this domain, milliseconds and edge cases mean the difference between catching an attack or missing it.

  • Work directly with founders, product, and research teams to deeply understand emerging threats — and build backend systems that turn detection insights into operational reality.

Every architectural decision you make will be working towards a future where every internet interaction can be trusted.

    About you:

Here’s the kind of person who our client would be excited to work with:

  • You’re resourceful and fast-moving: You know how to navigate ambiguity and move projects forward without needing a playbook.

  • You think from first principles: You break problems down to fundamentals, question assumptions, and build smart, original solutions when needed.

  • You act with ownership: You take full responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks. You step into gaps, solve problems decisively, and keep standards high.

  • You bring high energy and clear thinking: You approach challenges with curiosity, positivity, and focus — and you keep momentum even when things get hard.

  • You care about the work, not the ego: You argue the case when it matters, back your thinking with evidence, and adapt quickly when new information comes in.

  • You’re multi-dimensional: You're more than just your technical skills — you're intellectually curious, open-minded, and constantly sharpening your edge.

    Your experience:

Here's some thoughts on the experience you'll need to be successful in this role:

  • You’ve honed your skills over at least 4 years’ experience in backend development and have strong proficiency in GoLang and Node.js

  • You’ve highly comfortable with DevOps principles; experience with Kubernetes would be a plus!

  • Exposure to cloud platforms, particularly GCP or AWS

  • Familiarity with other robust backend programming such as Python

  • Experience on the front-end, particularly JavaScript would be a bonus!

    What's in it for you:

  • Competitive salary (let’s talk!)

  • Stock options – share in their growth

  • Employer-matched pension plan

  • The opportunity to shape systems that stop fraud before it starts and front-row seat in redefining online trust and identity

Where to Advertise Cyber Security Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising cyber security jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool is small, heavily vetted and in high demand across government, financial services, critical national infrastructure and the private sector simultaneously. Many of the strongest candidates hold active security clearances, are not actively job-searching through general platforms, and move primarily through specialist networks and trusted referrals. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that security professionals expect. Specialist platforms, government-affiliated channels and cleared candidate networks each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by CybersecurityJobs.tech, covers where to advertise cyber security roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Penetration Tester Jobs in the UK: What Employers Actually Want in 2026

The demand for skilled professionals in cyber security has never been higher, and penetration testers sit at the very heart of this rapidly evolving industry. As organisations across the UK continue to digitise their operations, protect sensitive data, and defend against increasingly sophisticated threats, the need for ethical hackers has grown dramatically. If you are considering a career in this field—or looking to advance within it—it is essential to understand what employers are really looking for in 2026. This guide breaks down the current expectations, required skills, certifications, and practical experience that can help you stand out in a competitive job market.

SOC Analyst Jobs UK 2026: Salaries, Skills & How to Get Hired
