Senior Network Engineer – Permanent | Glasgow (Hybrid)

We're looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a large, dynamic digital team based in Glasgow. This is a hybrid role splitting your time between home and the office - 2 days in the office.

The Role

You'll act as a senior technical authority across enterprise and hybrid network services - combining hands-on engineering with responsibility for standards, governance, risk management, and continuous improvement. You'll design, deliver and assure secure, resilient network infrastructure, and mentor the wider engineering team.

What You'll Be Doing

Network & Security Architecture

  • Design and assure complex enterprise network and security architectures using Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiManager, FortiAuthenticator, FortiNAC, FortiSASE)
  • Embed Zero Trust and SASE principles into all network solutions
  • Define and maintain standards, reference architectures and configuration baselines

Network Operations

  • Ensure availability, performance, resilience and security of enterprise network services
  • Act as escalation point for complex incidents, leading root cause analysis and permanent remediation
  • Drive continual improvement across network operations

Hybrid & Cloud Connectivity

  • Design and support hybrid connectivity between on-premises data centres and Microsoft Azure (Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, VPN)
  • Collaborate with cloud and platform teams to integrate consistent security controls

Enterprise Networking

  • Design, support and optimise enterprise LAN, WAN, campus and data centre networks using Cisco and Fortinet technologies
  • Lead technical evaluation and introduction of new networking capabilities

Governance & Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements and audit expectations
  • Contribute to risk assessments, TDA reviews and formal change governance
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams and asset records

Essential Skills

  • Fortinet platforms: FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiManager, FortiAuthenticator, FortiNAC, FortiSASE
  • Microsoft Azure networking including ExpressRoute, site-to-site and remote access VPN
  • Cisco switching and routing; LAN, WAN and data centre networking
  • Strong operational disciplines: incident, problem, change and capacity management

Nice to Have

  • Automation experience (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Formal governance and risk management framework experience
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders

What's on Offer

  • 33 days' holiday (with room to grow)
  • Private healthcare
  • 24/7 GP access and medical/dental cash plan
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Generous retail discounts
  • Maternity and paternity packages
  • Training and progression opportunities

If this sounds like the right role for you, then please get in touch with Christina Hall at

Where to Advertise Cyber Security Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise cyber security jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, communities and channels that reach offensive, defensive and GRC security talent. The candidate pool is small, heavily vetted and in high demand across government, financial services, critical national infrastructure and the private sector simultaneously. Many of the strongest candidates hold active security clearances, are not actively job-searching through general platforms, and move primarily through specialist networks and trusted referrals. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that security professionals expect. Specialist platforms, government-affiliated channels and cleared candidate networks each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by CybersecurityJobs.tech, covers where to advertise cyber security roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
