The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on experienced Cyber Security & Network Operations Lead to take ownership of a critical technical function and drive significant improvements across people, processes and technology.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced technical leader to inherit a small team, shape its future direction and raise operational maturity across a complex environment. You'll be trusted to lead from the front, combining strategic thinking with a willingness to roll up your sleeves when required.

The business operates a hybrid working model where you will be expected to be in the office 3 days a week, so you should reside within a commutable distance of Newcastle.

The Role
You will lead a team responsible for cyber security operations and network services, ensuring the function is resilient, responsive and fit for the future.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading and developing a small team of technical specialists
  • Improving operational maturity, governance and service standards
  • Driving incident response readiness and security best practice
  • Building clear processes, documentation and operating procedures
  • Reducing key-person dependencies and increasing team capability
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Supporting major transformation and infrastructure initiatives
  • Working closely with senior leadership to define priorities and deliver outcomes
  • Providing assurance, reporting and clear communication across the business

The Person
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical credibility with proven leadership experience.

You'll likely bring:
  • Experience leading security, infrastructure or network operations teams
  • Strong cyber security knowledge and practical operational experience
  • Exposure to enterprise networking technologies and environments
  • A track record of improving processes, standards and service delivery
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • The ability to remain calm and provide direction during incidents and critical situations
  • Experience mentoring, coaching and developing technical teams
  • A proactive approach and a desire to create lasting improvements

Most importantly, you'll be someone who can inspire confidence and drive positive change.
